Welcome To Fukuoka! What Will You Eat Today?
さて今日は何を食べようかな?

Fukuoka City is praised nationwide for its fabulous food culture. With plenty of land for farming, and access to some of the freshest fish, you can often find great quality food, large portions and generous servings for a fraction of the cost of fine dining in Tokyo.

However, if you don’t know what to look for, the options for eating out in Fukuoka can seem a little overwhelming. You might even find yourself defeated, opting for something that’s familiar instead of something that’s phenomenal. Fukuoka Eats wants to help you navigate the ever-changing foodie landscape, so that you can find exactly what you’re looking for, without falling back on tourist traps, chain restaurants, and convenience store onigiri.

Interactive Google Map

You can click the ☆ icon on the left, next to “Fukuoka Eats”, to save my Google Map list to your smartphone for easier navigation around the city. You can click the far right icon to select and isolate different genres to help narrow down what you’re looking for. Click locations to read a short description of why I’ve chosen to list the places.

Purple icons are for desserts — Both takeout and sit down restaurants are included here, along with some of my favorite bakeries, patissieres, and current trending cafes.

Brown icons are local cafes — You’ll never be too far from a Starbucks, Tully’s or Seattles Best Coffee downtown, but a lot of Fukuoka’s youth culture is embedded in the local cafes that are not major franchises. Skip the chain cafes and venture into some of these local joints instead.

Red Icons are favorite meals around the city — Looking for a savory meal? The best tempura? Sushi? Yakitori? Check the red icons for some of my favorites.

Green icons are vegetarian/vegan options — tried and true results for those with dietary restrictions. Click each map icon to read a short description to confirm if the location is vegetarian or vegan.
